How to remove unwanted chin hair

Excess chin hair is a common problem among many women. Luckily, there are quite a few processes for chin hair removal that are fast, efficient and easy to do.

Try Plucking

For the woman that has only a few stray chin hairs, plucking is probably the fastest and easiest way to go. Simply get a magnified mirror and a pair of tweezers and sit in front of a window or go out in the backyard, to ensure you get those few pesky strands

Use Depilatory Creams

There are quite a few products in your local drug store that are easy to apply and very effective. Products such as Nair Face Cream with Green Tea Sensitive Formula and Surgi-Cream Hair Removal For Face. Depilatory creams work by dissolving the hair with chemicals. Be sure to test on your skin however in a less visible area to ensure there is no allergic reaction before applying to your face.

Try Waxing

This is another fairly simple method to remove chin hair at home (or in a salon if you prefer). There are many waxes available on the market such as Sally Hansen Honey Wax Hair Remover for Face and Parissa Strip-Free Hot Wax Face/Brow/Bikini that are made specifically for use on the sensitive face area. Always be sure to apply to a test area on your skin that is not very visible first however to ensure there is no allergic reaction. Sometimes the area might feel a little raw after completed. Rubbing ice on the area should take care of this quickly and easily.

Go For Laser Hair Removal

While a little bit more expensive, many women swear by laser hair removal t get rid of unwanted chin hair. Not only is it an effective treatment, but it is known to greatly reduce and/or permanently stop the hair from every growing back after a few treatments. While some women say that it is not very painful, others recommend using a numbing cream one hour before treatment to ensure comfort. You can find laser hair removal at many salons or dermatologists offices.

Get Electrolysis

Another method for removing unwanted chin hair is Electrolysis. This is a more effective method than waxing or creams in terms of how long it takes for the hair to grow back, however there are some drawbacks you need to be aware of. It is fairly costly and time consuming. It can also cause possible scarring. It is very important to find a reputable practitioner before attempting this method.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Many people might like the idea of getting laser hair removal but be scared of the pain that they think comes with it. They might think that it hurts a lot because of the fact that a laser is used. Or they might think that it is the same type of laser that is used for removing tattoos, which can be very painful. The fact is that it really isn’t all that painful for most areas. As well as it being the best method of permanent hair removal as well.

A lot of people say that the pain is less than having hair waxed, which in itself isn’t all that painful after the initial shock. Similarly the pain from laser removal fades quickly after the hair is removed. It doesn’t even have the lingering sting that waxing can leave you for a few minutes afterward. The most painful area is generally the face, because there are more nerve endings under the surface of the skin there than in most other places. A lot of hair removal places will usually administer a topical anesthetic if you think you might need one, or if the area if particularly sensitive.

The most important thing to do first is to find a reputable clinic. Because in a lot of places you don’t need to have any qualifications to perform this kind of procedure, there are a lot of clinics that tend to spring up from time to time that could be unsafe. Many countries also have very little legislation in place for this kid of thing compared to for example a doctor. So going to a clinic that is affiliated with a chain of clinics, or that someone else has recommended to you is a good ides.

Some places will instead of using an anesthetic use an ice pack to numb the area before they start. This is usually just as effective as an anesthetic, although sometimes a little more uncomfortable. In the majority of cases little other pain relief is needed. In fact a lot of people are surprised by how little it actually does hurt after they have had it done.

The time it will take for the laser removal to be done depends obviously on how large the area is that is being done. It can also vary depending on how thick the hair is that is being removed. Typically however the actual laser isn’t used for much longer then it would take to wax an approximate area the same size. An of course laser removal is a lot more effective than waxing.

After the laser has been used the skin beneath will be sensitive for a few days and shouldn’t be exposed to direct sunlight. It will usually be around a week before the skin is feeling completely normal again, and you can resume normal activities. There are also usually products that are either included in the service, or can be bought at the clinic that will help the skin to return to normal again.

The last thing to remember is that if you have had an area adjacent to an area with hair. For example if you have had a bikini line done but not the upper legs, then you should be wary of friction and rubbing between the two areas. This usually doesn’t happen of course, but after the laser removal the skin is very sensitive for a few days.

Skin care: Why it is important to dry your skin well

When it comes to skin care, most people focus on the importance of washing the skin.  And indeed, washing is very important for sloughing off oil, dirt, and dead skin.  But what sometimes gets left out of the equation is how important it is to dry skin thoroughly.

Wet skin can actually cause acne.  One of the reasons for acne is bacteria living on the skin and clogging pores.  A wet environment fosters the growth of bacteria.  This is especially dangerous on areas like the back, where sometimes people get dressed before they are completely dry.  The wet skin trapped in clothes, especially in non-natural fibers like polyester or rayon, can not breathe and dry properly.  The skin then becomes a breeding ground for acne-causing bacteria.

In fact, if you have problems with acne on your back of the variety that are small, clustered blemishes, it is likely that at least some of it is caused by skin that hasn’t been dried properly.  This can lead to confusion; it may seem as though the acne is persistent despite regular or even increased cleaning.  But if every time the area was cleaned it wasn’t dried properly, those extra cleanings may actually be making the problem worse.

The good news is that this problem is very easy to correct.  Simply make sure to rinse all soap off of your skin before you’re done with your shower or wash, and to dry your skin thoroughly.  One danger that might not be so obvious to those who shower and dress without thinking is wet hair.  For women especially, wet hair can get your back and chest wet even after you’ve already dried them once.  This can be misleading, because you might believe you have dried your skin thoroughly only to have it dampened by the water clinging to your hair.  One way to resolve this problem is to dry and style your hair before you get dressed.  That way you will be able to give your skin one last towel-off before you put your clothes on.

The importance of washing skin thoroughly is well-known.  But the fact is that drying skin thoroughly is just as important, even though its importance is often overlooked.  If you have problem acne, especially on your back, make sure that you are drying your skin thoroughly every time you shower, bathe, or wash.

How often should you color your hair?

How often you color your hair depends on several different variables. One must take into consideration the type of dye being used, the strength and condition of the hair, and the desired color of the hair.

The strength and condition of the hair is the most important factor when deciding how often you should color your hair. Some people’s hair can withstand several chemical processes in a single day, while other hair types are much more fragile. Generally, those with thick and coarse hair types can get away with more frequent colorings than those with fine hair. Porosity of the hair is another consideration, as it will affect processing time. Porosity refers to the hair’s ability to absorb moisture. Hair that is overly-porous will absorb color faster than hair that is resistant. In order to test your hair’s porosity, snip a few strands of hair near the ends and place them into a cup of water. Within a few seconds, porous hair will sink to the bottom and healthy hair will float.

The type of hair dye is another important factor. Most permanent colors contain ammonia, which can be damaging to the hair. Temporary and semi-permanent dyes are much healthier for the hair, but they only have the ability to darken the hair, not lighten it. Lightening the hair is always more damaging than darkening the hair. Provided that your hair is healthy, strong, and has passed the porosity test, hair can be colored with a permanent dye every four weeks. A semi-permanent color, sometimes referred to as a color glaze, can be applied every two weeks if desired.

Hair that is over-porous or dry can still be colored, but less frequently and with more care. Close attention must be paid to processing time, as porous hair can process 5-10 minutes faster than healthy hair. Unless the hair is extremely damaged, dry and porous hair can be colored every 6-8 weeks with a permanent dye and every 4-6 weeks with a semi-permanent dye.

Severely damaged hair should never be colored at home. Only a trained professional will be able to assess the degree of damage to the hair, and will then be able to decide whether or not it is a good idea to apply color to the hair. Signs of severe damage include breakage and excessive hair loss. Applying the wrong type of hair dye or leaving the dye on the hair for the wrong amount of time can result in a hair disaster, which is why it is always best to leave coloring in the hands of a trained professional.
