Hair care: Styling damaged hair

Very few people are happy with their hair.  Some blondes want to be dark haired, some dark haired women bleach their hair.  Those with curls want straight hair, while those with straight hair want curls.  All that coloring and styling damages hair and in an attempt to repair such damage, hair often gets damaged even more.

If you are like most people, you have bought every product that promised you a small miracle and were disappointed.  Fact is, to repair your damaged hair, you will have to go back to basics.

Stop believing what you see on TV and stop buying department store products.  Do you really think the models use the products they advertise?  I think not.

For damaged hair you need organic shampoo and conditioner.  For this you consult a search engine of your choice, type in organic hair care and see what pops up.  Those are the kind of products that will really help to repair your hair.

Do not expect miracles though, repairing takes time.  You will feel immediately that what you are using is better quality than department store products, but to fully restore your hair’s health and beauty you might have to give it a few weeks.

In addition, stop putting mousses, gels and serums in your hair.  All these products may promise you to curl, smooth or fight frizz, but all of them contain a certain amount of alcohol.  Alcohol is bad for your hair, it dries it out.

If you want a product to comb through wet hair easier, give it shine or control frizz, look no further than your kitchen.  If you have olive oil, you have everything you need.  Rub a few drops between the palms of your hands, start by treating the ends of your hair and then smooth hands along the length.  You will see and feel immediate results.  In the long run, combined with the organic shampoo and conditioner, olive oil will repair your hair.

You can also use almond oil, but this oil is far more expensive.

In addition, you can give your hair a mask from time to time using mayonnaise.  Leave the mayonnaise in for 30 minutes and then give your hair a good wash.

Stop using heat on your hair.  A flat iron may take out the curls, but it is detrimental to your hair.  Common sense tells you that.  The same goes for curling irons, hot rollers and blow dryers.

Let your hair air dry.  To minimize curling, roll your hair in a knot when still slightly damp.  The result will be beautiful waves with no frizz at all.  This does not mean that you can never blow dry your hair, but do use a dryer with every wash

You might want to look at your diet too.  Healthy hair needs protein, vitamin B and zinc.  This is why it is important to eat fruit, vegetables, meat, eggs, cottage cheese, bacon and salmon.

Give it a try, see what you think.  You won’t be disappointed.

How to care for your hair

Caring for your hair can be tough. Anything from washing and drying to being out in the sun can be hard on your hair. There are lots of things to do and lots to look for to make sure your hair is getting the best care you can give it.

If you color your hair it’s very important to use a color treatment shampoo. Coloring hair can put lots of extra stress on your hair. Color strips the vitamins and bleach burns your hair vitamins and is really hard to replace them. Try and wash your hair every other day, this will help by letting your natural oils get soaked into the hair and will add some shine.

If you blow dry your hair everyday try to let it air dry a few times a week. Heat will hurt your hair and fray the ends. Try not to curl your hair much, due to the heat sitting on the hair for a period of time it will burn the ends and will put your hair into shock. This may cause frayed ends, stunt your hairs growth and will take shine away from the hair.

When straitening your hair try going over it only once. The more you go down the strand of hair the more damage it will do. Straightening your hair is one of the worst things you can do to hair. Because of all the extra heat it damages the hair faster. Make sure you use a heat protector or a shine serum before and after each use.

To try and rejuvenate your hair after you have damaged it. Try a few of these things.

Olive oil treatment- Put olive oil from root to tip of every stand of hair. Let sit on hair for 20 minutes. When washing out do so as normal. Maybe leave your shampoo on a little longer than normal. When done washing let air dry as much as you can if not all the way. If you have to dry and style then make sure to use a heat protector and a shine serum. Do this 3 or 4 times a week. And do it for a month. When you’re done still wait as long as you can to air dry your hair. And use as little heat to do your hair. Use a reconstructive conditioner. A few that I know of are K pack reconstructive conditioner and L’Oreal makes a really good one as well. Try to use a few times a week maybe every other wash to help you get the best hair as you can. Cutting out as much heat as you can. Trim your hair every 4-6 weeks After coloring hair use a deep conditioner or a leave in treatment to help sooth your hair.

All of these are things I have tried on my hair and they all work. In the past 4 years I have gone from bleach blond to dark brown to bleach blond again and now I’m back to my normal color. My hair has been saved more than once from dead ends and fuzz. Even now that I have had my baby and I went through postpartum alopecia my hair now looks great.

How to remove hair dye from your hair

When coloring hair, each and every one of us ought to keep in mind that we might not like the end-result which means that the health of our hair will have to undergo some more damage for the corrections. So much so, even the professional hair stylist are not sure of the fact if the chosen shade of hair dye will have the desired effect on the hair it is applied to.

Thus, here is a list of some of the products and home remedies to choose from when you want to undergo the process of removing dyes from your hair:

Color Fix by Jheri Redding is very helpful in getting rid of improper color from your hair. Also, if you be a little more careful with it while correction, it can also make the process of full or slight corrections easy. Likewise, Roux Clean Touch is another creation which consists of a smooth gentle formula and is beneficial in removing the color from the hair and scalp.

L’Oreal Color Zap is also really cooperative as it has the ability to wash off the permanent hair colors. It is also advantageous for performing corrections to your hair, removing dark shades, colour build up or an inappropriate result.  After using it, your hair is again prepared to be colored again. Another product of this company includes L’Oreal Effasol Colour Remover which can be used with water or developer to wash away the entire permanent hair colour.

Some of the home remedies include massaging of hot oil, application of hairsprays, frequent use of shampoos and showers which are proven to be efficient in gradually fading hair dyes. In a situation when you get your hair colored and immediately realize that it does not suit you, make a mixture of bleach in a cup, add two tablespoons of shampoo in it and give it a shake. While applying it to your hair, emphasize on the roots first and work your way down till the ends of your hair. You will notice that your hair will be color-free in no time.

However, if you had your hair dyed black, and then things get a little complicated because black hair dye is not easy to remove, especially if it is a permanent one. The best option is to let your hair grow instead of getting it bleached as bleach harms your hair by making it weak and thin.
